Second Quarter Diplomatic Briefing 2025.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday morning presided over the quarterly briefing for members of the Diplomatic Corp based in Nairobi. 

The PCS highlighted a wide array of regional and global concerns impacting Kenya’s foreign relations including the country’s continued commitment to economic reforms. Dr. Mudavadi reassured the public on the country’s economic recovery progress noting that this remained on track, with renewed focus on long-term growth, job creation, and investment in critical sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure. Dr. Mudavadi emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for all Kenyans, particularly the youth who had to contend with diminished employment opportunities.

Dr. Mudavadi has condemned the latest assaults in Haiti and has urged the international community to help the country deal with rising violence and instability. He called for assistance in restoring peace and stability to the Haitian people. On the rising refugee numbers in the Horn of Africa region, Dr. Mudavadi attributed the ongoing conflicts which continued to place a heavy burden on neighboring countries. The Prime Cabinet Secretary called for global and regional collective action in addressing the causes of displacement while lending support to those in need. 

Dr. Mudavadi underscored Kenya's neutral position in the Sudanese peace negotiations, stating that the government remained committed to fostering dialog and supporting peace initiatives.  He urged parties to focus on finding a peaceful solution to the current dispute, underlining the need of involving all parties in the search for a long-term settlement.

The members of the Diplomatic Corp were also apprised of the government’s effort towards developing Sessional Paper No 1 of 2025 on the Foreign Policy of the Republic of Kenya to improve the country’s foreign policy, align with national priorities, and contribute to the country’s vision to becoming a regional leader in diplomacy and economic partnerships. 

Dr. Mudavadi reaffirmed the country's commitment to preserving democratic values, promoting regional peace, while addressing domestic and global challenges. The PCS was accompanied by Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Sing’oei, Ambassador of Eritrea to Kenya and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Dr. Beyene Russom, and the Director General of the United Nations Offices in Nairobi Dr. Zainab Bangura.
