Protocol Officers Briefed Ahead of 24th COMESA Summit in Nairobi
The State Department for Foreign Affairs convened a preparatory meeting for protocol officers ahead of the upcoming 24th COMESA Summit of Heads of State and Government, which will take place from 6th to 9th October 2025 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi.
The session was led by the Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Henry Wambuma, and COMESA Focal Point–Kenya, Mr. Tobias Odongo, who commended the protocol team for their dedication and outlined the Summit program.
The meeting served as a critical platform for briefing, coordination, and hands-on preparation ensuring that all protocol officer are well prepared to deliver seamless support during the summit.
The 24th COMESA Summit will run under the theme “Leveraging Digitalization to Deepen Value Chains for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth” and is expected to attract Heads of State and Government, ministers, diplomats, business leaders and stakeholders from 21 COMESA Member States.
The summit will be preceded by the COMESA-EU Connect Forum on October 6th, followed by the 17th COMESA Business Forum and exhibitions on October 7th. The 20th Meeting of COMESA Ministers of Foreign Affairs on Peace and Security will take place on October 8th, before culminating in the 24th Summit of COMESA Heads of State and Government on October 9th.
During the Nairobi meeting, Kenya will assume the rotating Chairmanship of COMESA from Burundi. The Government of Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a successful summit, underscoring the country’s central role in advancing regional integration, trade and inclusive economic growth across the continent.
