PRESIDENT RUTO ARRIVES IN NEW YORK FOR UN SUMMIT

The Head of State , William  Ruto arrived in New York aboard a Kenya Airways flight today, to lead Kenya’s delegation at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He was accompanied by First Lady Rachael Ruto.
The Presidents  itinerary for the week is packed with strategic engagements designed to advance Kenya’s national interests and its leadership role on the global stage. Key thematic focus areas for the delegation include:
1.    Peace and Security: As a cornerstone of its foreign policy, Kenya will engage in high-level meetings to address regional instability, focusing on sustainability efforts in Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Haiti.
2.    Championing Affordable Housing: In his role as a global champion for adequate housing, President Ruto will host a High-level breakfast meeting with over 30 invited Heads of State and Government to marshal diplomatic support for this key agenda.
3.    Climate Action: The President is scheduled to chair a meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) to solidify Africa’s common position ahead of the COP 30 conference in Brazil later this year. He will also participate in a Special High-Level Event on Climate Action co-chaired by President Lula da Silva of Brazil and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
4.    Reforming Global Finance: Following the recent International Conference on Financing for Development in Spain, Kenya will participate in crucial meetings to ensure developing countries can better access development finance and reform the international financial architecture.
5.    Campaign for the ICJ: President Ruto and Principal Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will campaign to secure support for the candidature of Prof. Phoebe Okowa for a seat at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), a bid already endorsed by the African Union.
The President’s schedule also includes a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres to reaffirm Kenya’s role as a key partner on peace, climate action, and hosting of major UN offices in Nairobi.
