Kenya Calls for Global Reforms at AU Summit

Kenya has joined the call for global finance reforms at the African Union (AU) Summit, emphasizing the need for a fairer and more inclusive financial system. President H.E. Dr. William Ruto of Kenya, alongside other delegates from Africa and key global organizations, emphasized the urgency of restructuring the international financial system to address systemic unfairness and distortions hindering Africa's economic progress. The leaders discussed the establishment of the Africa Credit Rating Agency (ACRA), a proposed institution that would rely on credible, data-driven assessments to accurately reflect Africa's economic realities.

Kenya also reaffirmed its solidarity with South Sudan and commitment to supporting peace negotiations, while also pledging additional financial support for ongoing peace efforts in the region. Kenya and Senegal committed to strengthening diplomatic relations at both bilateral and multilateral levels, advancing AU reforms and establishing a stable, financially sustainable, and predictable framework to drive Africa's progress.

Kenya has long been a strategic partner of the United Nations (UN) in peace and security diplomacy, contributing to peacekeeping missions worldwide. In a meeting with UN Secretary-General H.E. António Guterres, Kenya reiterated its commitment to leading peace initiatives, including the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti and regional stabilization efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Somalia.

The 38th AU Ordinary Summit is currently underway under the theme "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations."
