Building Resilience for Effective Diplomacy: Foreign Affairs Staff Hold Annual Staff Wellness Day 2026.

The State Department for Foreign Affairs today celebrated its Annual Staff Wellness Day at the Kenya Public Service Club in Nairobi.

Led by Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, the Wellness Day brought together staff to reflect on the importance of physical, mental and financial wellbeing in strengthening Kenya’s Foreign Service and enhancing service delivery.

Dr. Mudavadi described the annual wellness initiative as an important institutional tradition that reinforces resilience, cohesion and effectiveness within the Foreign Service. He noted that investing in the wellness and resilience of the workforce remains critical in strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic service and advancing national interests across the world.

“Work-related stress often manifests silently, affecting individuals who continue to serve with dedication despite personal challenges,” he observed.

He encouraged staff to fully utilize available counselling and psychosocial support services while fostering a workplace culture that promotes openness, empathy and mutual support.

“Even a simple conversation or act of empathy can make a meaningful difference in strengthening resilience within the workplace,” he said.

Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’Oei, also encouraged staff to make use of the office wellness programmes and support systems established to help address work-related challenges. He urged officers to reflect on the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance for efficient and effective service delivery.

Dr. Sing’Oei also recognized and awarded retirees who concluded their service under the State Department for Foreign Affairs, applauding them for their dedication and invaluable contributions toward advancing the Ministry’s mandate and achieving its goals.a
