Amb. Lindsay Kiptiness, Deputy Director-General, Middle East Directorate meets with Amb. Rulan M. Samara, Ambassador-Designate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Kenya
Amb. Lindsay Kiptiness, Deputy Director-General, Middle East Directorate, today held a bilateral meeting with Amb. Rulan M. Samara, Ambassador-Designate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Kenya.
Amb. Kiptiness welcomed Amb. Samara to Kenya and reaffirmed his readiness to work closely with her to further strengthen bilateral relations. Discussions focused on expediting the conclusion and signing of more than 14 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), enhancing coordination of bilateral engagement mechanisms, and deepening cooperation in tourism, high-level exchange visits, trade, and collaboration in multilateral fora.
Amb. Samara highlighted Jordan’s strategic position as a gateway to regional and international markets through the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, noting the presence of over 27 industrial zones and the country’s proximity to major markets, including Europe. She emphasized the potential for Kenyan businesses to utilize Jordan as an export and distribution hub, particularly for products such as meat, coffee, avocados, flowers, and tea.
Amb. Kiptiness expressed Kenya’s interest in expanding cooperation in key priority areas aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), including agriculture, employment creation, clean energy, global health diplomacy, and climate action.
Both sides underscored the importance of high-level visits in unlocking trade and investment opportunities and agreed to facilitate such engagements.
