Advancing AU Institutional Reforms: Kenya Holds Collaborative Consultative Meeting

Following the appointment of President William Ruto by his peers as the African Union (AU) Champion for Institutional Reforms in February 2024, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs was tasked the responsibility of steering the President's mandate as the Champion.

The Ministry recently concluded a two-day Consultative Meeting on AU Reforms led by Dr. Korir Sing’oei, Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs  and Prof. Pierre Muokoko, Head of the AU Institutional Reforms Unit.

The forum provided a platform for in-depth analysis of the current status of AU reforms and discussions on the way forward. The outcome of this meeting will be consolidated into a comprehensive report that President Ruto will present during the 38th Ordinary Session of the AU General Assembly, scheduled for 15th to 16th February 2025.

This collaborative effort underscores Kenya’s commitment to driving meaningful and sustainable reforms within the African Union, strengthening its institutions, and enhancing their long-term effectiveness.
